Realism Oil Painting Techniques By Nick Baxter
September 16, 2010
Hancock MA
3 hrs, $150, limit 20 people
This seminar will quickly cover the basics of oil painting technique and supplies, but will focus primarily on intermediate to advanced techniques of sharp-focus realism techniques, such as glazing, scumbling, thin layer build-up, color-matching and blending, and reproducing photographic effects. Therefore some experience is recommended, however beginners can still gain valuable insights and tips. The seminar content will partially be determined by the participants' wants and needs, but all are encouraged to bring their own painting supplies and any in-progress works for critique and instruction on taking them to the next level. Live demonstrations and exercises will be given, and all participants will receive my instructional oil painting booklet if they do not already own a copy.

ACRYLIC PAINTING FOR EVERYONE; A Two-Headed Approach
September 16, 2010
Hancock MA
$150 per person, unlimited seating.
Cory Kruger and Chris Dingwell each have over fifteen years of tattooing and painting experience. With an extensive art background and a graduate degree in Fine Arts, Chris Dingwell is a unique figure in the tattoo community, bringing his abstract art background into his work as a tattooer. For a better look at his work, you can find him at www.chrisdingwell.com. Cory comes from a more traditional tattoo background, working with Julie Moon, Guy Aitchison, Joe Capobianco and many others along the way. In addition, he has refined his painting techniques over many years; learning all he could from masters of tattooing and from far outside of tattooing, in order to create the amazing work that he does today. Check it out at www.krugertattoos.com.
This seminar will present a pre-view of the forthcoming book about acrylic painting techniques that Chris Dingwell and Cory Kruger are co-writing. The book will be published later in the year by Guy Aitchison's Proton Press. This seminar is for anyone who is at all interested in painting, from first timers looking for a place to start to the seasoned veteran who is looking to expand in new directions. Cory and Chris each have a distinct and personal approach to painting. By combining their knowledge and experience, they will be able to give you a wide path to follow, with lots of possibilities to explore.
Together, they will debunk the myths and discuss the advantages of acrylic paint and how it can work for you. They will discuss a wide variety of materials, techniques, and approaches to the medium that are available today; showing examples through slides and live demonstration. Covering everything from composition and color to layering, glazing, and working with mixed materials, they will discuss various approaches to painting and art making with a strong focus on experimentation and working WAY outside the box. They will be discussing ideas that can be applied to help improve any kind of art making, including your tattooing.
Participants are encouraged to contribute their thoughts and questions to this lively discussion about the ins and outs of acrylic painting. This should be an entertaining as well as informative event for any artist, no matter how new or old. There will be special hand outs and cookies. Approximately 3 hours,
