Hello Anastasia Vilks! Thanks
so much for taking the time to answer some questions for our
magazine. It's always a pleasure to interview a female tattoo
artist, since males take the major presence in this business. Your
work is really inspiring, I bet you're a great role model to many
artists out there.
Q: Let's start with some basic info about you, What inspired you to become a tattoo artist? Do you have any artistic background?
A: Yes, I finished Minsk College of Arts. When I had my first tattoo done, I made a decision that I want to learn the art of tattooing. Before that I didn't know who I wanted to be in future.
Q: You do lots of tattoo styles, do you have any favorite?
A: Yes, I do, It is realism.
Q: During your starts, what kind of designs catch your eye firs? What kind of designs you used to in most of the time?
A: At the beginning of my career, I preferred the old school tattoo style.
Q: How much your tattoo art speaks about your personality? Would you say tattooing is an expressive job?
A: I just do the designs that I really like and which are interesting and challenging for me as an artist.
Q: Your color tattoos are absolutely
amazing! Seriously, something that makes them so cool, is your
ability to put some extra energy on the details as well as, unique
composition with so many great color ink contrasts! I bet, you spent
lots of time sketching and then finally get in touch with the
clients and their idea... tell me a bit about the making process.
A: First, we discuss the main idea, then I look up on the internet for interesting photos, designs and ideas which inspire me. Then I think it over and make a composition in Photoshop and show it to the client. If needed, I'll make some minor changes. Once the composition is ready we start tattooing. During the process I can change or add certain details as I see them.
