interview with Christian Boye tattoo | Timeless art, dk |10/09/2019

Hello Christian Boyetattoo! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer some questions for our readers. Please start by telling us something about your starts in this business, what made you interested in tattoo art?

I started drawing from a young age and I come from graffiti background, but what really made me start getting into tattoos was watching “Miami ink” as a kid!

Q: What was the most difficult part in becoming a pro? Did anyone help you along the way?
A: The hardest part was taking orders from others, when I started I got pushed around by my tattoo “master” and always ended up with me getting fired. So I ended up tattooing out of my parents basement when I was 17-18 years old, watching dvds and YouTube on how to tattoo and I had learned the basics from my masters.

- What kept you motivated to get where you are today?
I think it’s passion, I really love everything about tattoos and I feel I have to proof to people that I’m good enough for some reason.

Q: How has your style developed throughout the years of experience?
A: I started doing dark art, but through the years I stopped doing it and now after maybe 3-4 years, that’s all I wanna do again, the more evil the better.

Q: Today, your work looks awesome, really professional, seems like you really found your style, very remarkable. I love how you do big pieces like back tattoos and sleeves all in one particular way of doing, with some of the "known" elements like Gothic ornaments and the beautiful mix of black and white ink. All amazing. How long usually takes to finish a back tattoo? Who is the main creator of the design?
A: I am the creator, I can typically do a back piece in 7-8 sessions.

Q: Would you give your style a specific name? How much do you think is important for one pro artist to bring their own type of work? Isn't that the "ultimate" goal of one creative individual?
A: Totally! For me the goal and dream is that people from all over the world in the industry, that’s see my work and know “that is a Christian Boye tattoo”

Q: Being known for your style, would you refuse to do something completely different? Let's say if a client comes in your studio and ask for a color cartoon tattoo heh?
A: Yeah if the idea is good, but for now I rather wanna try to push my style.

Q: A lot of horror themes too, do you have any favorite characters to do?
A: Skulls all day everyday.

Q: How is the Danish tattoo scene nowadays? I've seen many new, very creative people coming up with some great work on display. What's your general view? I feel like the industry in Denmark is going really well!
A: New people are coming and they are getting better day by day!

Q: What would you say to those who are just starting and think that this is an easy job, you just need to know how to draw? Give us some of your best recommendations.

A: Being good at drawing will get you in the long way, but the most important thing is to be creative.

Please write down your contact info and studio location.
